      The government of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the ON Media holding have signed an agreement to develop projects in the field of preventing social orphanhood in the region. The document was signed by the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, and the general director of ON Media, Sofia Mitrofanova, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 4, 2026. As part of the cooperation, the parties intend to launch information campaigns, offline projects, and other educational initiatives aimed at developing various forms of child placement in families. Joint work will be carried out in several areas: family placement of orphans and adoption, support for families in difficult life situations, and the creation of youth spaces. "The Nizhny Novgorod region is consistently developing a system of assistance to families and preventing social orphanhood. It is important for us that families have the opportunity to receive the necessary support before a difficult situation becomes critical, and that children are raised at home rather than in social institutions. We are pleased that a federal media holding is joining the work of the region's executive bodies. Our partners are ready to use their resources and expertise to draw public attention to this crucial issue," said Gleb Nikitin, the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Sofia Mitrofanova emphasized that ON Media has been systematically working in the direction of preventing social orphanhood and supporting families through its own projects and content for several years. "We see how strong the response is to stories about family, foster parenting, and children in difficult situations. That is why we are not limited to producing films and series, but are launching a comprehensive project together with the Nizhny Novgorod region that combines education, family support, and work with teenagers. For ON Media, this is one of the key social initiatives of recent years. Production and creativity are the foundation of our business, and we are happy to make efforts to ensure that useful practices become more visible to society," said Sofia Mitrofanova. The holding has been addressing the issue of family placement for orphans and supporting families for several years. One of the first such projects was the series "Penguins of My Mom" about a family with foster children. In 2026, the detective series "Prints" was released on the holding's online cinema, where the theme of an orphanage and a foster family became one of the central plot points. Following the success of this project, a documentary film "Our Children" was also released, which tells that effective tools for preventing social orphanhood already exist in Russia and help more children stay in families. The partner and consultant of the media holding in implementing the project in the Nizhny Novgorod region will be the ANO Resource Center "Children in the Family." The center helps families in difficult situations and works to ensure that as many children as possible grow up in families. Among the planned activities is a photo project involving children from orphanages in the region. As part of this initiative, joint photography of teenagers with popular actors is planned, which will help draw attention to "hard-to-place" categories of orphans. The joint photo project will later turn into an exhibition. At the end of 2026, an offline project aimed at developing youth spaces in the region will also be launched, said Svetlana Meller, director of the ANO Resource Center "Children in the Family."
