      June 7, 2026 12:55 Incidents Since the beginning of 2026, 13 minors have fallen victim to fraudsters in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported to the "Living in Nizhny" portal by the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs. A total of 2,464 fraud cases have been registered in the region during this period. In 1,793 cases, the crimes were committed using information technology. According to the police, criminals often target children by posing as employees of law enforcement agencies. Under threats of criminal charges, they force teenagers to follow various instructions. As explained by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, contact with minors is most often established through online games, social media communities, and messengers. Scammers create fake accounts, pretending to be children or teenagers. Initially, they communicate on neutral topics and discuss common interests, and then gradually move on to specific requests and instructions.
