       This summer, schoolchildren from the Nizhny Novgorod region have a real opportunity to earn their first money. According to State Duma deputy Ekaterina Stenyakina, they can start working part-time from the age of 14, but official employment will require written permission from one of the parents or guardians. This was reported by RIA "Novosti".

       The law strictly limits working hours for minors. For children aged 14-16, the workweek cannot exceed 24 hours, and if the teenager is still studying, it is only 12 hours. The daily shift for fourteen-year-olds lasts up to 4 hours, and for fifteen-year-olds - up to 5 hours. High school students over 16 can work 7 hours a day, but their total weekly workload should not exceed 35 hours. Until they reach adulthood, young people are prohibited from being involved in dangerous activities, being forced to lift heavy objects, being sent on business trips, or being assigned to night shifts. The deputy strongly recommends that both teenagers and their parents carefully read the employment contract before signing it. All conditions: schedule, duties, and payment amount should be clearly documented to avoid being deceived by the employer.

       Additionally, working through the regional employment service has an important advantage: it will not affect the receipt of social benefits. The earned money will not be counted when calculating the family's income, and the right to a pension in case of loss of the breadwinner or disability will remain. It is also worth noting a new development: thanks to a federal law that comes into effect on September 1, 2025, Nizhny Novgorod schoolchildren will now be able to officially work on weekends during vacations.
