A rabies quarantine has been introduced in a village in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On June 6, 2026, at 08:43, Society In the village of Kuzminka in the Serga district, a quarantine has been established due to animal rabies. The corresponding decree from the governor has been published on the official portal for the publication of regulatory acts. The entire territory of the village has been recognized as an unfavorable point. The personal subsidiary farm of citizen Korzunov D.M., located in the village, has been declared an epizootic focus. During the quarantine period in the epizootic focus, the treatment of sick susceptible animals is prohibited. Access to the territory by unauthorized persons is restricted, except for specialists from the state veterinary service, employees involved in eliminating the focus, staff caring for the animals, and citizens residing or temporarily staying within the boundaries of the focus. The import and export of susceptible animals is prohibited. An exception has been made only for the export of vaccinated animals against rabies, vaccinated no earlier than 179 calendar days before shipment, including for slaughter at specialized enterprises or equipped slaughter points. The movement and regrouping of susceptible animals, skinning of their carcasses, and hunting of species related to hunting resources are also prohibited, except in cases of regulating their population. Within the boundaries of the unfavorable point, fairs, exhibitions, and other events related to the gathering and movement of susceptible animals cannot be held. Their export is limited—except for sending them for slaughter or exporting vaccinated animals within the established time frame. Furthermore, the capture of wild susceptible animals for subsequent export to zoos is prohibited. This document applies to legal relations that arose from May 28, 2026.
