This became possible thanks to the recently adopted law on a ten-year statute of limitations for disputes related to privatization, explained Pavel Krasheninnikov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation, at an off-site meeting of the Council under the President on the codification and improvement of civil legislation. He reminded that the privatization processes in Russia covered not only large state enterprises but also the mass housing stock. "This is a fundamentally important point that is often forgotten in the heat of political discussions about big business. It should be noted that more than 30 million housing privatization agreements have been concluded. If the law had not been prepared and adopted, we would have automatically put a huge number of conscientious owners at risk. People have been living in their apartments for years, and they should not have a constant fear that due to some procedural nuances their rights may be challenged," said Pavel Krasheninnikov.
