The treasure from the merchant mansion of the Kuznetsovs will be displayed at the Rukavishnikov Estate in Nizhny Novgorod. As reported by the press service of the Nizhny Novgorod Museum-Reserve, during the restoration of the former mansion of the merchant dynasty Kuznetsov on M. Pokrovskaya Street, where the military medical service of the regional FSB of Russia is currently located, a unique treasure with jewelry was discovered. 25 jewelry items, mostly women's, are made of gold and adorned with high-class precious stones. Among them are works from well-known jewelry firms of the Russian Empire. Of particular interest are wedding rings engraved on the inside with the names of the owners of the house — Filetёr Pavlovich Kuznetsov and his wife Valentina Vasilievna (née Markova), as well as the date of their wedding — February 7, 1900. Among other treasures are gold watch chains, bracelets, earrings, and rings with large diamonds and rubies, an exquisite moon brooch studded with diamond scatter, and a gold chatelaine with a keychain, on which the initials of the house owner "FK" are laid out with precious stones. The treasures were hidden in a small cardboard box that once contained toilet soap. Nearby were silver salt shakers wrapped in a yellowed newspaper from June 24 (July 7 in the new style) 1917. This amazing find became a reflection of the revolutionary events that divided the history of the country and the family into "before" and "after." The treasure formed the basis of the exhibition project "Family Values," presented in the main building of the museum-reserve — the Rukavishnikov Estate. The exhibition will also tell about the origins of the ancient lineage, the entrepreneurial and charitable activities that brought the family millions in capital, and their immediate circle. For this, archival documents and photographs of the Kuznetsov and Markov families were used. The exhibition will be complemented by paintings by the outstanding artist, Filetёr's brother, Konstantin Kuznetsov. A native of the Nizhny Novgorod province, he received his artistic education in France, participated in the largest Paris salons, and was highly regarded by both Russian and French critics. Living in emigration, Konstantin Kuznetsov retained his Russian citizenship and continued to represent Russia in the European artistic space, becoming famous as the "Russian Claude Monet." The works are provided by the Konstantin Kuznetsov Foundation, established by entrepreneur and art collector Andrey Shcherbinin in 2016.
