Nizhny Novgorod region will receive 3.5 billion rubles for the development of electric transport.

      June 5, 2026 17:08 Economy The Nizhny Novgorod region will receive almost 3.5 billion rubles from the federal budget for the development of public transport. The funds are allocated as part of the federal project "Development of Public Transport" of the national project "Infrastructure for Life." According to the Russian government's decree, a total of 10.8 billion rubles will be distributed among the regions. Money will also be sent to the Volgograd, Kursk, and Saratov regions. The funding will go towards the implementation of infrastructure projects. This includes the comprehensive development of urban ground electric transport and public road transport. The funds can also be directed towards lighting and landscaping works. In addition, the money is intended for the purchase of electric buses and the creation of charging infrastructure for them. The Ministry of Transport of Russia must conclude agreements with the regions within 30 days after the decree comes into force. The agency will also monitor the targeted and effective use of funds and will present relevant reports to the government by March 1 of 2027, 2028, and 2029. Earlier, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced at a government meeting that the Nizhny Novgorod region is among the regions that will receive federal subsidies for the modernization of public transport in the next three years.
