A new forest fire station has opened in the Vyksunsky district.

      A new second-type forest fire station has appeared in the Vyksunsky district — Pristanskaya. The necessary equipment was purchased through the federal project "Forest Conservation" of the national project "Environmental Well-Being." This was reported by the regional Ministry of Forestry. "Protecting forests from fires is our top priority. We pay special attention to forestry enterprises with an increased risk of forest fires. After the major forest fires of 2010, significant areas formed patches of coniferous young growth, which pose a high fire hazard. To enhance safety, a decision was made to reorganize the Vyksunskaya first-type forest fire station into a more powerful and equipped structural unit — the Pristanskaya second-type forest fire station," noted the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife Protection of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Roman Vorobyov. The ministry is consistently strengthening the material and technical base of forest fire formations by updating fire-fighting equipment, implementing modern forest protection technologies, and improving the network of forest fire stations (FPS). This significantly increases the effectiveness of combating forest fires. As noted by the department, there are three types of forest fire stations, differing in equipment and capabilities. Thus, FPS-1 can extinguish up to two simultaneously active fires per day, while the more powerful FPS-2, equipped with an expanded set of specialized equipment, fire-fighting means, transport, communication, and inventory, can handle up to four fires simultaneously. The most highly equipped FPS-3 is being created in those districts of the region where forests are characterized by high natural fire hazards and a prolonged fire hazard season. "The strengthening of forest fire structures has been ongoing since 2020. As part of the modernization, three second-type forest fire stations — Uren, Koverninskaya, and Pervomaiskaya — have been transformed into third-type stations. Thanks to the increased level of equipment, each of them has become capable of simultaneously ensuring the extinguishing of forest fires in the territories of several districts of the region. In addition, a new Kuzmiyarskaya first-type forest fire station has been established, which has strengthened the grouping of formations serving the Mikhaylovskoye forestry," added Roman Vorobyov. Forest fire stations are organized on the basis of two institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Forestry — the Nizhny Novgorod Forest Fire Center and the Vyksunsky Forestry. There are a total of 43 stations in the Nizhny Novgorod region, providing a full range of work to combat forest fires, including extinguishing fires in the forest fund, monitoring the fire hazard situation, as well as conducting fire prevention activities in forests. All forest fire stations are equipped with the necessary technical means, fire-fighting equipment, and inventory, and are staffed with personnel who have undergone appropriate training to address the assigned tasks.

      Let us remind you that starting in 2025, a national project "Environmental Well-Being" began operating in Russia by order of President Vladimir Putin, which fulfills tasks previously outlined in the national project "Ecology." The new national project aims to care for the environment and enhance its comfort for human life. The national project includes six federal projects: "General Cleanup," "Water of Russia," "Conservation of Biological Diversity and Development of Ecotourism," "Forest Conservation," "Closed Cycle Economy," and "Clean Air."
