      June 3, 2026 16:45 Politics The Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Sergey Tsivilev, and the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, discussed issues related to ensuring the reliable functioning of the energy system in the region, as well as the prospects for its further development considering the implementation of large-scale investment projects. Representatives of the State Corporation "Rosatom" and the Joint Stock Company "System Operator of the Unified Energy System" participated in the meeting. Special attention was paid to the current and prospective regime-balance situation in the energy system of Nizhny Novgorod Region. Gleb Nikitin noted that the region demonstrates high investment activity and serves as a platform for the implementation of a number of large industrial and infrastructure projects. In this regard, the participants of the meeting emphasized the need for proactive development of the energy infrastructure in the region, capable of meeting the growing needs of the economy. This includes both the construction of new generating capacities and the modernization of the electric grid complex. Following the meeting, it was noted that to ensure the proactive development of Nizhny Novgorod Region and create conditions for connecting new energy-intensive facilities, it is necessary to update long-term documents for prospective planning: the General Scheme for the placement of electric power facilities until 2042, as well as the Scheme and program for the development of electric power systems in Russia. The implementation of these measures will allow for the formation of the necessary energy reserve for further industrial growth in the region, increasing its investment attractiveness, and achieving national development goals.
