VTB: By the start of the school year, children will have their own bank.

      June 1, 2026 12:00 Economy Ahead of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (18+), Olga Skorobogatova, the first deputy president and chairman of VTB, announced that this autumn the bank plans to launch its financial service for children aged 6 to 14, where kids will be able to independently track their spending, learn to save, and improve their financial literacy.

      Like adults, children will have their own smart feed in the app, featuring warnings about fraud schemes, educational games, and tips for achieving financial goals. In the future, a piggy bank, tasks from parents, and other useful features will be added. The app will "grow" with the child—both in format and content. Teenagers will be able to manage their finances under parental supervision.

      It is worth noting that Russian banks are actively developing specialized services for children—these help young users acquire basic money management skills under parental control. However, these are most often cards or stickers with parental control.

      Experts believe that such services help children develop useful financial habits, teach them to plan expenses, and save money. For banks, the development of children's financial services is also a tool for increasing family loyalty: habits formed in childhood influence the choice of bank in adulthood. Such products also help instill a sense of responsibility for their own spending in a safe digital environment.

      The growing demand for cashless payments contributes to the spread of financial online services among children and teenagers. According to Frank RG data for 2025, 66% of children aged 6 to 13 use bank cards. The popularity of cards and stickers is influenced by the increasing level of financial literacy. Research shows that after lessons and competitions on finance and entrepreneurship, more than half of children start saving money, spending it more wisely, and being more cautious about suspicious financial offers.
