Every second complaint is about discrimination from employers: refusal to hire with young children, coercion to resign due to sick leave, refusal for promotion. At the same time, 36% of citizens without children say that their decision to have a child will not depend on an increase in support measures. This is a question of cultural environment, societal attitudes, and infrastructure quality," said Mikhail Kuznetsov. Surveys show a high demand from families for the development of infrastructure to support parents, including a system of short-term childcare. Additionally, about half of families with children and 65% of families without children do not have nearby grandparents who could help with the child. The Nizhny Novgorod region is implementing a large-scale demographic initiative aimed at supporting young parents and improving the demographic situation in the region - the "Basis" program, which was highly praised by the Chairman of the Government of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin. "Support for young families and parents in various life situations forms the basis of our region's demographic policy. That is why, upon the birth of a child in the Nizhny Novgorod region, parents can receive a payment of up to 1 million rubles. More than 14,500 certificates for such payments have already been issued.
