A schoolboy from Nizhny Novgorod won the All-Russian competition "Do you know? Teach!"

      On June 1, 2026, at 14:44, Society: Roman Khlunov, a student of the Avtozavodsky branch of the municipal Center for Military-Patriotic Education named after Maxim Nastin (CVPV), became the winner of the V season of the All-Russian competition for popular science videos for schoolchildren "Know? Teach!". The solemn award ceremony took place the day before at the M. Gorky Film Studio in Moscow.

      The competition, organized by the ANO "National Priorities" as part of the initiative "Science to Win" of the Decade of Science and Technology, gathered more than two thousand applications from across the country this year. Roman competed in the middle age group in the thematic nomination dedicated to unmanned systems and satellite technologies. The student created his video based on the knowledge and practice gained in the "FPV Drone Operators School" classes at the CVPV's UAV department.

      The award was presented to the young Nizhny Novgorod resident by Fedor Mitin, a candidate of technical sciences and associate professor of the Department of Control Systems and Computer Technologies at BSTU "Voenmekh". In addition to the statuette and winner's diploma, Roman received high praise from the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, the rector of RUDN Oleg Yastrebov, and the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova.

      As reported by the Nizhny Novgorod CVPV, Roman's success was the result of a comprehensive approach to education: "Classes in the 'engineering' segment significantly broaden the horizons of students. The knowledge acquired in managing and programming drones was applied by Roman not only for its intended purpose but also interpreted into educational content." His mentors, Maria Biushkina, a specialist at the Center, Ivan Khodin, the deputy head of the CVPV for UAVs, and Dmitry Smirnov, the head of the UAV department, worked on creating the video with the young winner.

      "It is very joyful when our kids not only enthusiastically study modern technologies but also find practical applications for them while still in school. Roman Khlunov showed how knowledge about unmanned systems can turn into an interesting, understandable, and useful story for many. This is a living example that science and technology are not difficult or boring, but exciting and accessible. I am sure that Roman's success will inspire other Nizhny Novgorod schoolchildren to boldly try their skills, combining study, creativity, and real deeds," noted Ekaterina Solntseva, Deputy Chair of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Roman Khlunov graduated from the seventh grade of Nizhny Novgorod School No. 37. The schoolboy admitted that participating in the competition was his first serious test. "I did not expect such a high result, but I tried very hard to represent the Center well. This topic seemed interesting and close to me. The Center teaches us courage and the desire to learn new things—from parachuting to working with neural networks. I feel that the technical direction is my path," he said.
