On May 31, 2026, at 11:49, Incidents: Unknown individuals desecrated the graves of veterans at the Novo-Sormovsky cemetery in Nizhny Novgorod. Local residents reported this on social media. According to one of the Nizhny Novgorod residents, wreaths and nameplates were allegedly set on fire at several graves of front-line soldiers. The perpetrators acted selectively.
Arriving at the cemetery in the 67th quarter in the seventh microdistrict to visit his grandmother, a war veteran, he discovered the following scene: someone was deliberately setting wreaths on fire. They selectively targeted veterans, specifically those who died young, leaving others untouched, wrote a user under the name "Your Conscience."
Another resident of the city reported a similar situation in early May. According to Irina K., on May 4, she visited the Novo-Sormovsky cemetery and saw signs of burning on her relative's grave and on neighboring burials.
