Eight players have left the Torpedo hockey club system.
Several players have left the Torpedo hockey club system due to the expiration of their contracts. This was reported by representatives of HC Torpedo-Gorky on social media on May 30. The team has lost players such as goalkeeper Maxim Sokolov, defenders Ilya Bochkow and Ilya Zharkov, as well as forwards Daniil Ilyin, Roman Opalev, Denis Orlovich-Grudkov, Sergey Odinokov, and Donat Stalnov.
"We thank you for your hard work, and may only successes accompany you in your further sporting journey," the team representatives wished.
Recall that the day before, the Torpedo-Gorky hockey club was officially excluded from the list of VHL participants and will not participate in the 2026/2027 season. The issue of closing the farm club was raised last year as well, but the decision was postponed as Torpedo-Gorky achieved high results, winning the Russian Champion Cup. In the new season, the situation turned upside down, as the team barely managed to break into the playoffs, but was eliminated in the very first stage, losing to Magnitka with a score of 0:4 in the series.
"If three seasons ago, playing in the VHL cost about 150 million rubles, now that figure has doubled. As of today, maintaining an independent farm club is a luxury," said the general director of HC Torpedo, Evgeny Zabuga, at that time.
A year earlier, the management of Torpedo closed the women's team due to low popularity and the need to optimize expenses. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
