Gleb Nikitin urged Nizhny Novgorod residents to join "BARS-NN"

      May 29, 2026 14:56 Society Governor Gleb Nikitin urged Nizhny Novgorod residents to join the mobilization reserve "BARS-NN." The head of the region emphasized that volunteers perform tasks only within the Nizhny Novgorod region and are responsible for security within the region. He noted that training is conducted under the guidance of instructors with real combat experience.

      Volunteers are mastering shooting skills, tactical expertise, engineering, and the basics of military medicine, as well as studying the principles of electronic warfare and communication organization. Citizens with combat experience are welcome! — the governor wrote on his MAX channel.

      Let us remind you that the "BARS-NN" reserve has been forming since the fall of 2025. Its main task is to protect strategically important facilities in the region. Joining the reserve is voluntary, by signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense. During the training period, their jobs and salaries are preserved. Three territorial defense shifts have already been formed, each including several mobile groups. In six months, reservists have demonstrated a good level of training, with instances of drone destruction, while no personnel were harmed.

      For participants of BARS-NN and their families, additional support measures are in place by the governor's decision. Children are provided with free spots in kindergartens, hot meals in schools, the opportunity to attend sports sections and extended day groups, as well as subsidized vouchers for camps and sanatoriums.
