A roundabout will be built at the entrance to Nizhny Novgorod from the side of Kstovo.

      On May 29, 2026, at 15:56, the Society of the State Unitary Enterprise "GUAD" begins major repairs on two sections of roads in the Kstovo district on the routes "Bolshaya Yelnya - Olgino" and "Eastern access to Nizhny Novgorod." The work will be carried out under the national project "Infrastructure for Life." It is planned to complete them by October 31, 2026.

      A key change will be the construction of a roundabout intersection. The project provides for a two-lane ring and separate single-lane exits in each direction: from Nizhny Novgorod to Olgino, from Olgino to Kstovo, and from Kstovo to Nizhny Novgorod.

      The department noted that the intersection currently operates without traffic lights, which causes traffic difficulties during peak hours. After reconstruction, there will be an organized traffic scheme with additional lanes. It is expected that this will increase capacity and allow drivers to cross the section more quickly without unnecessary stops.

      The roadway will also be widened by one lane on the section from the beginning of the descent—marked by the exit to the "Svetofor" store—up to the bus stop at "TM Moto" when moving from Kstovo towards Nizhny Novgorod.

      The contract also includes the reconstruction of utilities affected by the work zone, the installation of new road surfaces, road marking, the installation of traffic signs, and the installation of outdoor lighting along the entire repair section.

      The major repair of this junction is a long-overdue necessity. The roundabout intersection will alleviate the familiar traffic jams for many drivers entering Nizhny Novgorod, noted acting director of the State Budgetary Institution "GUAD" Alexander Denisov, and urged drivers to understand the inconveniences, plan routes in advance, and remain attentive.

      The national project "Infrastructure for Life" was initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and started in 2025. Its goal is to provide citizens with modern socially significant infrastructure.
