VTB: every third resident of the Volga Federal District wants to be paid weekly.
May 28, 2026 15:23 Society About a third of working residents in the Volga Federal District would like to receive their salaries weekly, while in reality, most employers pay out money twice a month. This is evidenced by a survey conducted by VTB ahead of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2026. According to the survey results*, more than half of the residents in the Volga Federal District receive their salaries twice a month, 17% once a month. Only 5% of respondents receive weekly payments, and 1% daily. However, as the VTB survey showed, many would like to receive their salaries more frequently than they do now. About a third of respondents prefer weekly payments, 8% daily, and 4% upon completion of work. The main reason for wanting to receive earned funds more frequently is better management of everyday expenses and increased financial stability, according to the residents of the Volga Federal District. About half of those surveyed by the bank also noted that the frequency of payments affects their productivity and motivation at work. "The demand from Russians for more frequent salary payments is a rational response to managing everyday finances. Expenses arise every day, while payments mostly occur once a month or twice. Synchronizing these two schedules allows a person to better plan their budget without cash gaps," commented Alexey Okhorzin, Senior Vice President and Head of the Retail Business Products Department at VTB. *The study was conducted in May and covered 1,500 respondents aged 18-65 across Russia in cities with populations of over 100,000.
