       The poverty level in the Nizhny Novgorod region decreased to 5.2% by the end of 2025, compared to 5.6% in 2024 and 7.2% in 2023. This was reported by the press service of the Nizhny Novgorod region government.

       According to the governor, from 2023 to 2025, the region rose from 16th to 11th place in the national poverty ranking. This was facilitated by the growth of residents' incomes and the expansion of social support measures. Currently, about 900 thousand people, or approximately one-third of the region's population, receive various cash payments and other forms of assistance. At the same time, half of the support volume goes to families with children. Gleb Nikitin noted that out of 109 types of social payments, 97 are financed from the regional budget, which allows the support system to operate sustainably. Among the targeted assistance tools, he specifically highlighted the social contract, which helps low-income families increase their income, find employment, or start their own business.
