May 28, 2026 14:42 Society 76% of returning participants of the Special Military Operation in the Nizhny Novgorod region are already employed. This was reported by Governor Gleb Nikitin during a report on the activities of the regional government for 2025 before the deputies of the Legislative Assembly. The head of the region reminded that 2025 was declared by the president as the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. Nikitin emphasized that support for those who show courage and their loved ones remains one of the priority commitments and a common duty of the authorities.
Work with participants of the Special Military Operation begins even before the moment of demobilization - with full information about all opportunities: priority access to medical care and education, retraining, and professional development, the governor said.
One of the key areas of the resocialization program is the employment of veterans. In 2025, 71% of fighters returning from service found work. Currently, this figure has reached 76%. Participants with disabilities are employed through the Project Inclusive Office, established on the basis of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund - thus, more than 130 people have found work. In partnership with the fund and regional NGOs, the project "Create Your Career" is being implemented, thanks to which over 100 people have been employed. Within the framework of the "Your Business" project, 140 participants of the Special Military Operation and their family members have started engaging in entrepreneurship. In addition, there is a program "Resocialization and Professional Integration of Families of Participants of the Special Military Operation," which has already trained and adapted 35 families.
There is also a program in the region called "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" - an analogue of the federal project "Time of Heroes." It is aimed at preparing leaders from among participants and veterans of the Special Military Operation for subsequent work in government bodies and local self-government. In particular, Special Military Operation participant Andrey Kupriyanov became the mayor of Zavolzhye. It was previously reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin met with graduates of the first stream of the federal personnel program "Time of Heroes."
