May 27, 2026 11:27 Economy26−27 in Dzerzhinsk is hosting the forum "Chemistry of a Great Country." The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Evgeny Lyulin, participated in it.

"In Dzerzhinsk, the forum 'Chemistry of a Great Country' has started. I am very proud that our beloved city has been chosen as its capital. For the second time, the largest representatives of the industry from all over Russia are gathering at its venue. More than five hundred participants - leaders of major enterprises, members of the regional and federal government, renowned scientists - will discuss at the forum's venues issues of state support for the industry, development of closed-loop processes, personnel shortages, and the implementation of digital twins and robotization in production," wrote the speaker of the regional parliament in his MAX channel.

"For us, chemistry is the backbone of the region's economy. Despite the overall tense situation, the industry shows positive growth and accounts for 10% of the entire industry of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Moreover, it represents almost 40% of Russian PVC and 10% of ethylene. Our main pride is the special economic zone 'Kulibin.' The deputies of the Legislative Assembly, together with the regional government, have created all the necessary conditions for it: residents are provided with tax benefits, and infrastructure is being built. There are 11 operating enterprises. 58 resident companies are ready to invest more than 164 billion in their projects and create 7,000 jobs in the coming years," noted Evgeny Lyulin.

"We support the pilot project to create Centers for the Development of Small and Low-Volume Chemistry in Dzerzhinsk to form new growth points and assist small and medium-sized businesses. But the main problem that needs to be addressed is the personnel shortage. Every year, the chemical industry in the region needs to train one and a half thousand specialists of the highest level. It is necessary to adapt educational programs to the real needs of business, strengthen the connection between science and production, invite specialists from other regions, build housing, and develop social infrastructure. We need a transition from a commodity economy to a knowledge economy, and we are already working on this," emphasized the speaker of the regional parliament.
