      On May 27, 2026, at 09:25, Society In the paid parking lots of Nizhny Novgorod, a system based on artificial intelligence has been implemented, capable of recognizing closed or partially hidden state registration plates, as well as automatically generating fines for unpaid parking. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Transport. Previously, vehicles with such violations were towed by ATI employees. Now, the number is recorded immediately upon the vehicle's entry into the parking space, rather than after some time. Therefore, by the time the owner exits the car and attempts to remove or cover the number, the data has already been recorded by the system.

      The AI-based development was highly praised by participants of a seminar on organizing parking space, which took place in Nizhny Novgorod with the support of the Ministry of Transport of Russia. Currently, there are 110 paid parking zones operating in Nizhny Novgorod, located on 81 sections of the street and road network. It was previously reported that their number may increase in 2026. However, there are no plans to raise parking fees: an hour still costs 60 rubles, and the first 15 minutes remain free.
