The scandal at the Arzamas nursing home has reached Bastrykin.

Messages about improper care for the elderly in a nursing home in Arzamas have spread on social networks. According to relatives, this led to a deterioration in the health of the residents, and one woman died after being hospitalized. Information has also been published about a conflict between the institution's staff and the relatives of the residents. It is claimed that during the quarrel, the applicants sustained bodily injuries. In the "VKontakte" community "Arzamas Live," relatives shared specific cases. For instance, in November 2025, an elderly woman was placed in a nursing home for round-the-clock care after leaving the hospital. It is reported that her condition worsened, bedsores appeared, she was later hospitalized, and subsequently passed away. There are also reports of other residents who, according to their relatives, were in serious condition or died shortly after being placed in the nursing home. In connection with this fact, the investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region organized an inspection based on signs of a crime provided for by Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements." The head of the agency instructed the head of the regional department, Ayrat Akhmetshin, to report on the established circumstances and the results of the procedural check. Earlier, it was reported that the Investigative Committee canceled the initiation of a case against the Nizhny Novgorod major Sergey Kornilov after a mass traffic accident.
