34 residents of the region were awarded the honorary title of "Honored Veteran of Nizhny Novgorod Region."

      On May 25, a ceremony was held at the Rukavishnikov Estate to award residents of the region who were honored with the title of "Honored Veteran of the Nizhny Novgorod Region." 34 Nizhny Novgorod residents were recognized with badges and diplomas. These are individuals who have achieved high results in various fields of activity after retirement. Many of them have made significant contributions to the development of veteran movements.

      The organizers of the solemn ceremony were the Ministry of Social Development and Family Policy of the region and the Nizhny Novgorod Regional House of Veterans. The event opened with the anthem of the Russian Federation performed by the military orchestra of the headquarters of the Volga Order of Zhukov National Guard troops of the Russian Federation. Veterans were congratulated by the Minister of Social Development and Family Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Igor Sedykh and the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the head of the United Russia party faction in the regional parliament Alexey Antonov.

      In his welcoming speech, Igor Sedykh reminded that 2026 has been declared the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

      "This is a special year - it is dedicated to strengthening friendship, peace, and harmony among all the peoples of our large and multinational country. Any participation in the public life of your district, city, region, your small homeland is a true civic feat and a bright example of true patriotism that inspires us and the younger generation today. I thank each of you for your contribution to the development and prosperity of the Nizhny Novgorod Region!" said the minister.

      Among the awarded veterans is Abdulkhai Iskhakovich Yusipov, a resident of the Krasnooktyabrsky municipal district. After retiring, he headed the spiritual society of Muslims in his native district and actively began engaging in charity work.

      Today, the veteran provides assistance to all those in need of support, especially children, including those diagnosed with cerebral palsy - he helps families of such children acquire rehabilitation wheelchairs, walkers, and exercise equipment. The veteran also regularly allocates funds from the mosque's fund for the purchase of necessary equipment, clothing, medications, food, hygiene products, shoes, and other humanitarian aid for participants in the Special Military Operation.

      "At present, when the enemy encroaches on our multinational people, on our native lands, it is impossible to remain on the sidelines. We must help. And you shouldn't wait for someone to ask you for help. Life is short, and the more good you do for people, the more good memories you will leave behind," believes Abdulkhai Iskhakovich.

      Honored veteran, member of the presidium of the city council of veterans (pensioners) of war, labor, the Armed Forces, and law enforcement agencies of the city of Dzerzhinsk Valentina Vadimovna Grinashchuk, upon retiring, immediately engaged in public activities.

      For eight years, the Nizhny Novgorod resident has participated in charitable actions and regional projects, writing scripts. For over 11 years, she has been conducting military-patriotic work with youth. Today, Valentina Vadimovna is also a photo correspondent in her veteran organization.

      "The secret of my longevity is in an active life position. Without work - public, creative - I simply cannot live. Today, a lot of necessary and important national projects are being implemented in the country, including for the older generation, and I want to participate in each one. The regional photo contest 'The World Through the Eyes of a Veteran,' for example, has become a real outlet for me. I want to wish the younger generation to be curious. When you are interested in the whole world, you will succeed everywhere, in any field of activity - whether in production, art, or science," shared the veteran.

      "It is a great honor for us that such a large number of truly worthy people live in the Nizhny Novgorod Region! You have proven your right to receive the honorary title of 'Honored Veteran of the Nizhny Novgorod Region' today. Almost half of the people of retirement age in our region engage in public activities. But the most important thing is that many of you pass on knowledge and experience to the young, meet with schoolchildren. This is a very necessary thing. Patriotism and love for the Motherland cannot be instilled solely through books; it is passed down only from mouth to mouth, through living examples. Thank you for your active life position! Wishing you good health, success, and congratulations on receiving this important and honorable title," addressed the guests Alexey Antonov.

      The ministry noted that the development and support of practices for active longevity of Nizhny Novgorod residents is one of the most important areas of work in the region within the framework of the national project "Family." The "Active Longevity" program is aimed at improving the quality of life for older people, increasing their life activity, and creating conditions for realizing personal potential.

      The official part of the event continued with performances by artists - laureates of international and all-Russian song festivals and competitions.

      Let us remind you that the honorary title "Honored Veteran of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" is awarded to residents of the region twice a year - in May, in honor of the celebration of Victory Day, and in October, as part of the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons. The decision to confer the title is made by the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Each year, the title is awarded to 60 veterans. Since 2004, more than 1,330 Nizhny Novgorod residents have been honored with this title.

      National projects are being implemented in the country at the direction of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. The national project "Family" includes activities that promote the comprehensive development of families: expanding support measures, creating conditions for the active longevity of the older generation, and ensuring quality and accessible medical care.
