The prosecutor's office is investigating the causes of the death of a 17-year-old girl in a lake near Shakhunya.

      May 25, 2026 15:53 Incidents In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the prosecutor's office is monitoring the establishment of the circumstances surrounding the death of a minor at a body of water in the Shakhunsky district. This was reported by the press service of the supervisory agency.

      Recall that the tragedy occurred on May 23. A 17-year-old girl drowned in a lake located near the village of Bolshie Kuliki. According to preliminary data, she was swimming in an area not designated for this purpose.

      The investigative department has organized a preliminary investigation. Upon examination of the body, investigators did not find any visible signs of criminal bodily harm.

      "All circumstances of the incident are being established," noted the supervisory agency.

      The prosecutor's office will also check compliance with legislation on the prevention of juvenile neglect and offenses. The agency is monitoring the adoption of a final procedural decision.
