The investigation into the case of the businessman from Sarov who was hiding from Interpol has been completed.

      May 22, 2026 18:50 Incidents The preliminary investigation into the criminal case of multi-million embezzlement of budget funds in Sarov has been completed. This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk. According to the investigation, in 2022, an entrepreneur embezzled approximately nine million rubles from the budget during the execution of state and municipal contracts. In one episode, a subordinate company purchased low-quality equipment that did not meet the project specifications. In another, it failed to pay for subcontractor services, and in a third, it inflated the amount of materials used for road construction by hundreds of times. At that time, the businessman, who had already been charged, began to evade justice. The man was placed on an international wanted list through Interpol channels and was later deported from the United Arab Emirates. Criminal cases have been initiated under part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed on a particularly large scale).
