Federal experts visited enterprises of the Nizhny Novgorod automotive industry.
On May 22, 2026, at 18:43, Economy Members of the working group of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on transport accessibility visited the largest enterprises in the region related to the transport industry: the Gorky Automobile Plant and the Pavlovsky Bus Plant, the V.P. Chkalov Airport, and also assessed the progress of the large-scale reconstruction of tram infrastructure and the operation of the electric bus depot in Nizhny Novgorod. The outcome of the visit was proposals for adjusting leasing programs, launching taxi services for people with disabilities, and updating the procurement of buses for small towns and rural areas. Federal experts made a working visit to the Nizhny Novgorod region dedicated to the implementation of national projects and the analysis of successful practices in the transport sector. The region was visited by the chairperson of the Public Council under the Ministry of Transport of Russia, Tatyana Gorovaya, the deputy chair of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation's commission on territorial development, Andrey Goloshanov, and a member of the State Council of the Russian Federation's commission on the "Effective Transport System," Ilya Zotov. At the Pavlovsky Bus Plant, experts were introduced to new generation models that provide an increased level of comfort and safety for passengers, assessed the effectiveness of implementing lean technologies, and the development of social infrastructure for employees. "The transport industry faces large-scale tasks for updating public transport, so it is important to understand the current plans of the industry. It is necessary to expand the programs for updating vehicle fleets in cities with a population of less than 50,000, where buses of small and medium classes are particularly needed, ensure the transition to three-year contracts for the region's auto plants, and co-financing from the federal budget for the development of urban infrastructure. We will work specifically on these areas," noted Ilya Zotov. On the eve of the 130th anniversary of the Nizhny Novgorod tram, guests highly appreciated the large-scale program for updating cars and tracks. In addition, the production of tourist buses, including small class buses for small groups, was discussed at the Gorky Automobile Plant. "The model range we saw at the plant has every chance of becoming popular and comfortable for traveling across the country. At the same time, electric Gazelles are suitable for resort areas, where care for the environment is particularly important. We also discussed the possibility of launching a taxi project for people with disabilities. This project will make travel accessible for those who currently do not have such an opportunity," commented Tatyana Gorovaya. At the V.P. Chkalov International Airport, experts studied services for families: free strollers, children's menus, mother and child rooms, a play area before boarding, and a unified section on the website. This experience is set to be replicated. "We will broadcast the experience of Nizhny Novgorod Airport and consider it worthy of attention. From our side, we need to engage in regulatory regulation of parking spaces at transport infrastructure facilities for families with children. In June, together with representatives of the Public Chambers of the regions, we will conduct monitoring of airports and railway stations' compliance with family requests," summarized Andrey Goloshanov.
