Since the beginning of 2026, the State Housing Inspection of Nizhny Novgorod region has received 8,700 complaints from residents about the unsatisfactory work of utility workers. Following inspections, management organizations were issued 137 orders and 793 warnings, with the total fines reaching 15.6 million rubles. These figures were provided by the regional GHI.

One example of how residents' appeals led to real repairs is the story of a building on Vasyunina Street in the Soviet district. A local resident repeatedly asked the management company to tidy up the first-floor hall and entrance area, but the utility workers were inactive. After an appeal to the GHI, inspectors conducted an inspection and recorded damage to the decorative finishes of the floor, walls, and ceilings, as well as numerous violations in the cladding of the entrance area.

The management company was issued an order with a deadline for completion by the end of August 2026. Without waiting for the deadline, the utility workers have already repaired the elevator hall: they leveled the floor, laid ceramic granite tiles, and painted the ceiling and walls in colors agreed upon with the residents. Work is currently ongoing to restore the cladding of the entrance area. As reported by Maxim Kartunov, head of the Nizhny Novgorod mountain department of the State Housing Inspection, there are still minor shortcomings: part of the mailboxes that have become unusable needs to be replaced, and a handrail needs to be installed at the stroller ramp. The management organization promised to fix everything in the near future.

It should be noted that residents can contact the GHI through the "State Services. Home" app and portal, as well as in person, having an identification document with them.
