"Rostelecom" presented its strategy until 2030 with a focus on AI and the digitalization of industry.

On May 21, 2026, at 15:30, Economy "Rostelecom" presented its development strategy until 2030 at the conference "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia" in Nizhny Novgorod. The company intends to strengthen its position not only as the largest telecom operator in the country but also as one of the key players in the field of industrial automation, digital services, and IT solutions for business.

As the correspondent of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" found out, one of the strategic goals of the company is to increase revenue to over 1 trillion rubles, including through the development of the B2B segment. The new strategy places a strong emphasis on digital products, artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, and the development of a service model for industry.

Rostelecom's President Mikhail Oseevskiy emphasized that the company will continue to develop telecom infrastructure while simultaneously enhancing IT competencies.

"Today we are one of the largest IT companies in the country, employing tens of thousands of specialists. We will strengthen the development of both existing areas and create new ones. At the same time, we intend to invest more specifically in digital products," he noted.

According to Oseevskiy, the growth of data volumes and the acceleration of technological changes require entry into new markets. One of these areas the company considers is industrial robotics. At Rostelecom's booth at CIPR, an industrial robot is presented—this direction is viewed by the company as a promising niche for the coming years.

Another priority will be the development of services based on artificial intelligence for various sectors of the economy. At the same time, as the head of the company emphasized, the implementation of AI is not seen as a tool for reducing personnel.

"Naturally, new ideas, tasks, and opportunities will emerge. Every year we review more than a thousand startups and companies at different stages of the investment cycle. And those projects that seem promising to us are included in our business process," Oseevskiy said.

The company also maintains its course on the development of individual technological clusters with a possible subsequent IPO. According to the president of Rostelecom, the timing will depend on market readiness and conditions for the most effective placement.

Vice President and Chairman of the Board Valery Ermakov named industrial automation, AI implementation, robotics, hybrid cloud development, and strengthening cybersecurity as key strategic directions.

According to him, the Russian industry today faces challenges related to labor productivity, personnel shortages, and the need for technological modernization.

"Industrial automation is becoming not just a direction of development, but a necessity," Ermakov noted.

The company's focus is on automated process control systems (APCS), industrial safety solutions, production robotics, and digital services for enterprises. These solutions will be developed based on the company's existing competencies in cloud technologies, information security, and digital infrastructure. Rostelecom expects that this approach will allow customers to implement new technologies more quickly and achieve practical economic benefits.

Special attention in the strategy is given to cybersecurity. As Ermakov noted, the nature of cyber threats has changed significantly in recent years: while previously, attackers primarily aimed to steal data, now attacks are increasingly directed at disrupting infrastructure and damaging data.

In these conditions, one of the company's key competencies becomes round-the-clock monitoring of customers' digital perimeter and prompt response to incidents.

Rostelecom also hopes to take advantage of the growing demand for import-substituted IT solutions. The company notes that hybrid architectures are particularly in demand among large organizations, allowing for a gradual transition to Russian technologies without halting production processes.

For small and medium-sized businesses, economic efficiency remains a key factor. In this regard, the company is betting on piloting solutions without initial investments from customers, so that businesses can test new technologies before full implementation.

The promising sectors for implementing solutions in the company include the oil and gas sector, industrial production, mining, agriculture, retail, and the hospitality industry.

Rostelecom believes that the market is gradually transitioning from fragmented industry solutions to a model of comprehensive digital integration, where the customer requires a single technological partner responsible for the reliability, support, and development of digital infrastructure.
