Nizhny Novgorod residents were explained how to distinguish an air courier from an enemy drone.

      May 21, 2026 17:41 Society The head of the EPR department of the ANO "Gorky Tech," Elena Gushchina, stated that the launch of aerial couriers in the Nizhny Novgorod region remains timely and safe, despite regular drone attacks. According to her, the development of drone technologies today is part of a global technological trend. Processes are being automated worldwide, and approaches to logistics, monitoring, and infrastructure management are changing. In Russia, a national project "Unmanned Aerial Systems" was launched by the decision of President Vladimir Putin, and experimental legal regimes are being introduced in the regions. Gushchina emphasized that the Nizhny Novgorod region has a strong base for industry development thanks to its own developers and manufacturers of drones, as well as scientific and design schools.

      "It is impossible to ignore this trend; the development of drone technologies is directly related to the technological competitiveness of the region and the country as a whole," she noted in an interview with pravda-nn.ru.

      Commenting on concerns about the possible use of drones under the guise of aerial couriers, Gushchina stated that such a situation is excluded. According to her, before flights begin, the relevant authorities receive information about all aircraft in the sky over a specific area. She added that aerial couriers are equipped with transponders integrated into the air traffic management system of Rosaviatsiya. Operators track the location of drones in real-time, and the routes are under strict control. Gushchina also mentioned that aerial couriers only fly during safe times and take off exclusively after receiving permission. If there is a threat, takeoff permission will not be granted.

      Furthermore, she explained how residents can distinguish an aerial courier from an enemy drone. According to her, the devices have a helicopter-type design without wings, the manufacturer's logo is applied to their body, and the drones are equipped with red-green aeronautical lights.
