Andrey Gneushev held a meeting to support participants of the SVO.

On May 21, 2026, at 17:21, Society The First Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Andrey Gneushev, held an expanded meeting of the regional interdepartmental commission to support participants of the special military operation and their family members. The meeting primarily addressed the life situations and issues raised by participants of the special military operation (SMO) and their relatives during recent off-site meetings of the commission in municipalities.

"We regularly hold off-site meetings of our interdepartmental commission in different districts of the region. Working on-site and communicating with SMO participants and their families, it becomes immediately clear how interaction is structured in a particular area. Our common task is to ensure that SMO participants receive quality assistance and that all their arising questions are resolved promptly. We will definitely continue the practice of off-site meetings," noted Andrey Gneushev.

The commission's work is coordinated by the regional branch of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" Fund with the assistance of the Nizhny Novgorod regional government. The meeting was attended by the chief federal inspector for the Nizhny Novgorod region, Alexander Murzin, the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Evgeny Lyulin, as well as heads and representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the region.

During the meeting, issues related to the health check-ups of SMO veterans, their employment, education, and retraining were discussed. Special attention was given to the implementation of programs that allow SMO veterans to start their own businesses. This is supported by the "Your Business" project and the mechanism of social contracts, which SMO veterans can enter into starting from 2026.

"Returning to civilian life, many participants of the special operation want to develop their own businesses. And we definitely help them with this. We support them at every stage, starting from turning ideas into a specific business plan and ending with expert support during the implementation of their business. We will continue and develop these projects so that as many SMO veterans as possible can find work that suits them," said Andrey Gneushev.

During the meeting, issues related to the involvement of SMO participants and veterans, as well as their family members, in sports were addressed. The Ministry of Sports of the Nizhny Novgorod region, together with the regional branch of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" Fund, conducts a large number of such events. A key element in this work is the regional center for adaptive sports "Parus" in Dzerzhinsk, which coordinates all sports facilities in the region.

The commission members also discussed the possibility of organizing programs in kibatletics for SMO servicemen returning to civilian life after injuries. This will allow veterans with health limitations, who, for example, start using high-tech prosthetics, to learn how to perform everyday tasks.

In addition, other issues related to the organization of multifaceted support in the region and measures to enhance its effectiveness were also addressed.

"Support for participants of the special military operation and their family members is also a priority direction for the work of the deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Since the beginning of the SMO, the government and the regional parliament have developed and adopted several dozen regional support measures. Many Nizhny Novgorod proposals and initiatives have formed the basis of federal laws. Currently, the task of socializing fighters returning home is becoming increasingly relevant. It includes rehabilitation and professional retraining. It is important to conduct systematic work in all directions," stated Evgeny Lyulin.

In conclusion, Andrey Gneushev presented gratitude from the "Defenders of the Fatherland" Fund for assistance in organizing and conducting the interregional comprehensive physical culture event among SMO veterans, "Cup of Defenders of the Fatherland."
