The International Arts Festival "Alpha Man" has started in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On May 21, 2026, at 18:59 Culture and Leisure In Nizhny Novgorod, the first International Arts Festival "Alpha Human" (6+) opened on May 20. The project was initiated by Alfa-Bank with the support of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The opening event of the festival was the opera installation "Dante. Ascent," created based on the motifs of Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy." The production was staged along the entire length of the Chkalov Stairs. The authors of the project are director Yuri Kvyatkovsky, playwright Mikhail Degtyarev, and music curator Nikolai Popov.

      The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, stated that he is pleased to hold the festival in Nizhny Novgorod. According to him, the Chkalov Stairs became a symbolic place for the performance dedicated to the ascent of the human soul and reflections on culture and art. Nikitin noted that the region already has successful experience of cooperation with the bank in the cultural sphere and expressed confidence that the festival will be a significant event. He also emphasized that Nizhny Novgorod is now perceived as a territory for new cultural formats and creative experiments. Senior Vice President of the bank, Timur Zulkarnaev, called the opening of the festival a "historic moment." According to him, "Alpha Human" should become a major international cultural platform.

      This year, the program features artists from ten countries, and the audience will be presented with world premieres and exclusive projects created specifically for the festival. The festival will last for 12 days. The program includes performances by Russian and foreign artists, including Hibla Gerzmava, Teodor Currentzis, Dmitry Sinkovsky, Boris Berezovsky, Luca Piyanka, and Davide Ranaldi. A separate event will be a five-hour electronic music marathon, which will take place on May 30 at the 800th Anniversary Park of Nizhny Novgorod on the Fedorovsky Embankment.
