What could threaten the son of the former head of "Luidor" for a mass traffic accident: opinion of a lawyer

This was reported to NEWS.ru by lawyer Sergey Zhorin. According to him, Russian legislation does not provide for a lifetime ban on driving licenses, however, the consequences for the perpetrator of the traffic accident can still be serious. Zhorin explained that in the absence of fatalities and serious injuries, liability is usually limited to administrative penalties. Thus, driving under the influence is punishable by a fine of 45,000 rubles, as well as a driving ban for up to two years. For crossing into oncoming traffic, the offender may face a fine of 7,500 rubles or a driving ban for up to six months. At the same time, the lawyer noted that criminal liability arises in the case of causing serious harm to health. If the driver was intoxicated, the punishment can reach seven years in prison. If a person dies as a result of the accident, the maximum sentence increases to 12 years, and in the case of the death of two or more people, to 15 years. In addition, it will be taken into account whether the driver has been previously charged with drunk driving or refusal to undergo a medical examination. As Sergey Zhorin explained, in such cases, Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on repeated driving under the influence may apply. Under this article, the punishment can be up to two years in prison, and in the presence of a relevant conviction, up to three years. Earlier, the NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" reported that the 21-year-old son of a millionaire provoked a traffic accident involving three cars on the Pokhvalinsky exit on May 20. The police issued four protocols against him. It later became known that since the beginning of 2025, 151 administrative cases had been filed against him. The moment of the severe traffic accident, committed while intoxicated, was captured on video. The day after the accident, the young man was escorted out of a Nizhny Novgorod restaurant.
