A criminal case was opened after a worker died from an electric shock in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On May 20, 2026, at 11:23, Incidents A criminal case has been initiated following the death of a worker from an electric shock during repairs in the Kstovo district. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Recall that the tragedy occurred on May 15 in the village of Cheremis. According to the investigation, a 31-year-old man was performing work to eliminate an emergency at the sewage pumping station when he was suddenly struck by electric current. The worker died at the scene of the incident.

      The case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 143 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of labor protection requirements resulting in the accidental death of a person). Investigators are currently determining all the circumstances of the incident. It is noted that during the investigation, a legal assessment will also be given to the actions of those responsible for ensuring safety measures during the work.
