The decision of the first instance was left unchanged, the regional court's press service reported. It was established that on June 20, 2025, in Dzerzhinsk, a delivery driver was entering a dirt road and did not ensure the safety of the maneuver being performed. As a result, he hit a minor pedestrian. The 8-year-old child died from the injuries sustained. The first instance court sentenced the courier to 1 year and 10 months of forced labor with 15% of his salary withheld for the benefit of the state. He is also prohibited from driving vehicles for two years. The defense considered the punishment too harsh and requested its mitigation, pointing to the positive characteristics of the convicted. The victims, on the contrary, insisted on maintaining the sentence. Following the review of the case, the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court found no grounds for mitigating the punishment. The sentence was left unchanged, and the appeal was denied. The ruling came into legal force immediately after its announcement.
