As part of the implementation of operational information, police officers in Nizhny Novgorod, in cooperation with the district prosecutor's office and the FSB, identified a case of causing significant material damage to an energy network company. It was established that from October 2024 to the present, an unknown individual replaced equipment at a transformer substation located in the Avtozavodsky district of the regional center, which led to an increase in electricity consumption. However, there was no payment for the consumed electricity. As a result, the organization suffered damage amounting to 1,409,766 rubles. During further investigations, law enforcement officers discovered a mining farm located on Strokina Street in Nizhny Novgorod. Sixty blocks and three boxes of mining equipment, as well as a computer, flash drives, wires, and temperature regulators were seized. The seized equipment has been sent for examination. An investigator from the inquiry department of OP No. 1 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Nizhny Novgorod has initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust). Currently, operational-search activities and inquiries are being conducted to establish all the circumstances of the incident, as well as the individuals involved in the commission of the crime. According to Russian legislation, the maximum penalty for such an unlawful act is imprisonment for up to 2 years. The regional police urge citizens to remain vigilant.
