Honored veteran of Dzerzhinsk Galina Gronskaya passed away at the age of 91.
May 16, 2026 16:38 Society The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Evgeny Lyulin, announced the passing of Galina Alexandrovna Gronskaya — the chairwoman of the Dzerzhinsk branch of the Nizhny Novgorod regional organization "Russian Union of Former Child Prisoners of Fascist Concentration Camps," an honorary veteran of the city of Dzerzhinsk. In 2025, she celebrated her 90th anniversary. "Last year, I met with this amazing woman, presented her with the anniversary medal '80 Years of Victory.' She smiled, joked, and made plans — it seemed that her energy would last for a hundred years!" shared the speaker of the ZSNO. In the summer of 1941, little Galya came from Leningrad to her grandmother's in Belarus, but the war began, bringing hunger, cold, death, and brutal mockery. In 1943, she and her family were taken to concentration camps in Poland and Germany. Despite all the horrors of war, she not only survived but also maintained her spirit, becoming a true leader. Galina Gronskaya moved to Dzerzhinsk in 1956 on assignment and worked for over forty years at the "Zarya" factory as a senior master. In 1988, she headed the branch of the Union of Former Child Prisoners of Fascist Concentration Camps and was repeatedly part of the Public Council under the Mayor of Dzerzhinsk. Galina Alexandrovna actively helped her charges, engaged in youth education, and collected humanitarian aid for Donbass. "Eternal memory to Galina Alexandrovna. Sincere condolences to her relatives, friends, and all who knew this courageous woman," said Evgeny Lyulin.
