On May 16, 2026, at 09:28 Society As part of the Days of Nizhny Novgorod in Minsk, the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, and the chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Vladimir Kukharev, signed a roadmap for cooperation for the years 2026-2028. The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere, and the document itself outlines key areas of joint work and includes more than 40 projects and events. Yuri Shalabaev noted that the cooperation between Nizhny Novgorod and Minsk has been ongoing for about a quarter of a century. According to him, previous agreements have been successfully implemented, and now it is time for new achievements. The new roadmap provides for cooperation in areas such as education, social policy, sports, physical culture, patriotic education, tourism, economy, transport, and road management.
The mayor of Nizhny Novgorod emphasized that during the festival days, the residents of Minsk can enjoy the creativity of Nizhny Novgorod theaters and museums. A concert featuring Nizhny Novgorod groups will also take place in the main square of the city. The overarching theme of all events remains the friendship between the two cities. Shalabaev also spoke about a visit to one of the Belarusian enterprises producing municipal cleaning equipment. Representatives of Nizhny Novgorod familiarized themselves with new models of machines that can be used in the city. Vladimir Kukharev noted that cooperation between the cities covers many areas. He emphasized the importance of the economic component, which is the foundation of sustainable development. As part of the festival, exhibitions, performances, concerts, and other events are taking place in Minsk, showcasing the cultural heritage of Nizhny Novgorod.
In addition, agreements on cooperation between the districts of Nizhny Novgorod and Minsk were signed at the meeting. Now all nine districts of the city will develop partnerships with the districts of the Belarusian capital. This will allow for more effective implementation of planned initiatives and attract business representatives to participate in projects.
The International Cultural and Educational Festival "Path of Friendship" has started in Minsk, and one of its key events has been the Days of Nizhny Novgorod, which will last from May 14 to 16. The festival includes cultural, sports, educational, and patriotic events. Creative teams and cultural institutions from Nizhny Novgorod will present their best achievements to showcase the uniqueness and diversity of the Volga capital.
