Nizhny Novgorod residents were told whether to expect a rise in utility tariffs by almost 36%.

      May 16, 2026 09:00 Economy The Regional Tariff Service of the Nizhny Novgorod Region commented on the information regarding the upcoming change in utility fees. Recall that, according to the updated forecast from the Ministry of Economic Development, by 2026, the total payment by citizens for utility services may increase on average by 9.9%. The total increase over four years may amount to 35.7%. As explained by the NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" in the agency, these are preliminary calculations that are formed at the initial stage of preparing the forecast for the socio-economic development of the country. The final version of the forecast will be refined and submitted for consideration to the Government of the Russian Federation in the fall of 2026.

      The indicators of the scenario conditions reflect average values and are the same for all subjects of the Russian Federation. The maximum allowable changes in tariffs for each region will be communicated after the approval of the relevant documents by the Government of the Russian Federation, the relevant authority noted.
