Lyulin: Dzerzhinsk is reclaiming its status as a leading city, but there is still much work to be done.
May 15, 2026 17:16 Society On May 14, in Dzerzhinsk, the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Evgeny Lyulin, held two meetings dedicated to the results of work in the district over the past five years and the prospects for the city's development. The speaker met with leaders of industrial enterprises, as well as with educators, doctors, and social workers. Regional parliament deputy Yulia Garevskaya and city head Mikhail Klinkov participated in both meetings.
At the meeting with industrialists, the key issue was the development of Dzerzhinsk's economy. Evgeny Lyulin noted that Dzerzhinsk enterprises are the locomotive of the region's development, and the city's success directly depends on the stable operation of factories. A significant emphasis was placed on the development of the special economic zone "Kulibin." According to the speaker, the SEZ "Kulibin" is the future of the entire Nizhny Novgorod chemistry sector. Hundreds of billions of rubles in investments are being transformed here into real jobs and modern production facilities.
Participants focused on problematic points requiring joint solutions. The key issue is the shortage of energy capacities for connecting new factories, without which further development of the sites is impossible. They also discussed the "growing pains" of Dzerzhinsk as an emerging federal center for small and medium chemistry: the need for synchronization of industrial and infrastructure plans, attracting qualified personnel, and removing administrative barriers. Industrialists also raised questions about updating engineering networks at existing enterprises and speeding up connection procedures to communications.
The second meeting was held with educators, doctors, and municipal workers. The conversation focused on the social development of Dzerzhinsk. Evgeny Lyulin emphasized that over the past five years, as many new schools and hospitals have been built in the city as were constructed in the last thirty years. There has been a 100% availability of nurseries and kindergartens.
Serious attention was paid to sports infrastructure: 19 mini-football fields have already been opened in the city's kindergartens, and another 15 are planned for construction in 2026. "We have set an ambitious goal: every kindergarten in Dzerzhinsk should have its own football field. The next step is to turn school stadiums into real sports centers for entire neighborhoods. So that a child can come after classes, and any adult can come on weekends," said the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
New initiatives were also voiced at the meeting — for example, the proposal to introduce additional medical insurance and "Pushkin cards" for teachers and doctors to raise the prestige of these professions.
Summarizing, the participants agreed: only joint work between the authorities, business, and the social sphere will make Dzerzhinsk modern and comfortable. "Dzerzhinsk is rapidly regaining its status as a leading city, but there is still much work ahead. We need to strengthen the Oka embankment, reconstruct the Peace Boulevard and Heroes Square, and tidy up every yard. We have four years until the centenary to address these issues," concluded Evgeny Lyulin.
"Such meetings are not just an exchange of opinions, but a true mutual enrichment. Leaders of industrial enterprises, which form the backbone of the economy, know how to develop production and create jobs, while Dzerzhinsk educators, employees of sports and cultural institutions provide crucial proposals for the development of their fields. From such interaction, a clear and coherent strategy is built, directing resources for improving life in the city. Only together, aligning our actions and plans, can we make Dzerzhinsk modern, comfortable, and successful, a true city of dreams by its 100th anniversary, which the city will celebrate in just 4 years," commented regional parliament deputy Yulia Garevskaya.
