Where will the beaches work in Nizhny Novgorod in 2026?

      May 15, 2026 5:30 PM Society The swimming season in Nizhny Novgorod officially starts on June 1, 2026. Currently, the city is preparing beaches and recreation areas for the summer. Divers are inspecting and cleaning the bottoms of water bodies, specialists are checking the quality of water and soil, and infrastructure is being updated in the areas. According to the city hall, 13 municipal beaches and 7 recreation areas are planned to be opened for Nizhny Novgorod residents this summer. In the Avtozavodsky district, beaches will operate at Park Lake of the first and second stages of Avtozavodsky Park, as well as recreation areas on the Oka River along Fuchik Street and at Permyakovsky Lake. In the Kanavinsky district, beaches will open at Bolnichnoye Lake (Moscow Highway) and Sorting Lake (Arkhangelskaya Street and in "Berezovaya Rosha"), as well as a recreation area at Meshcherskoye Lake. In the Leninsky district, beaches will be prepared for recreation at Silikatnoye Lake (near houses No. 19B and No. 23) and an area on the Oka River in the 25th Anniversary of October Bay. In Sormovo, beaches will be available at Pestichnoye, Lunskoe, and Svetloyarskoye Lakes (Mokrousova and Gaugelia Streets). In addition, recreation areas will open at the Rowing Canal (Nizhny Novgorod district), on the Kudma River in the "Vishenki" microdistrict (Kstovo district), as well as at Shchelokovsky Khutor, where beaches will operate at Lake No. 1 (Prioksky district) and Lake No. 3, and a recreation area at Lake No. 2 (Sovetsky district). By the end of May, all preparatory work at the beaches is planned to be completed. Throughout the summer season, specialists will continue to take weekly samples of water and soil.
