Volga-Vyatka Bank of Sberbank is implementing technologies in cultural projects.
May 15, 2026 17:50 Culture and Leisure The Volga-Vyatka Bank of Sberbank is implementing technologies in cultural projects. This was reported in an interview by Alexander Anashchenko ahead of the conference "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia." As part of the cultural program of the CIPR conference (12+), last year, Nizhny Novgorod residents and guests of the city heard the first futuristic opera restored by Sber's neural networks. The opera "Victory Over the Sun" is a cult project of the Russian avant-garde. The authors of the opera were poet Alexei Kruchyonykh and composer Mikhail Matyushin, who was born in Nizhny Novgorod. Many fragments were lost. Sber, together with the Volga-Vyatka branch of the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin (Arsenal), and with the help of the SymFormer neural network, recreated the lost parts of the music, while Kandinsky animated Malevich's Suprematism. In Izhevsk, at the festival "In the Homeland of P.I. Tchaikovsky," a performance of the unfinished opera "Mandragora" was presented for the 185th anniversary of the great composer's birth. GigaChat helped recreate the libretto, Kandinsky provided the set design and costumes, and SymFormer worked on the score. In the Mari El Republic, the premiere of the AI ballet "Snow Maiden" took place at the end of last year, with visual design created for the first time in Russia using Sber's generative AI. More than a thousand viewers attended the ballet. At the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve, AI guides based on GigaChat were introduced at the exhibition "Polenov and Students," which opened a new format of tours for visitors. Alexander Anashchenko, Chairman of the Volga-Vyatka Bank of Sberbank: "We are witnessing a unique era when technologies become something more than just a way to make life more convenient. Generative AI opens up enormous opportunities not only for increasing business efficiency or improving customer service but also for creativity. For us, supporting culture is a symbol of the pursuit of innovation and the preservation of heritage." This year, Nizhny Novgorod celebrates the 130th anniversary of the All-Russian Exhibition of 1896. Last year, in preparation for this date, Sber released a publication with colorization of old photographs, using proprietary algorithms from the AIRI Institute. Photographs from the "Sherer, Nabgolts and Co." firm can now be seen in color. The electronic version is available on the "Saving Together" website, and the printed book can be viewed in Sber's public space "Garage." NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
