A Nizhny Novgorod resident demanded a million rubles from a businessman, using the FSB as a cover.

      On May 15, 2026, at 16:26, Incidents: A resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region has been accused of attempting to murder an entrepreneur and threatening a police officer. This was reported by the regional FSB office. According to the investigation, the man demanded 1 million rubles from the entrepreneur for an allegedly existing debt. At the same time, he threatened the victim with problems and claimed to have protection from high-ranking FSB officials.

      According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod region, during the conflict, the accused ran over the entrepreneur with his car and then fled the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with moderate injuries.

      In addition, the man threatened to use violence against the head of one of the departments of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Nizhny Novgorod. The threats were related to the police officer's performance of official duties.

      After the incident, law enforcement officers detained the man. A criminal case has been initiated against him on charges of attempted murder and threats of violence against a representative of the authorities. The accused is currently in pre-trial detention. The investigation is ongoing.
