An employee of the Nizhny Novgorod colony No. 12 saved a drowning girl.

      On May 15, 2026, at 15:40, Society The head of the guard of the correctional colony No. 12 (Tonshaevsky district), Captain of the Internal Service Alexey Volkov saved a child in a pond. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. The incident occurred on May 5 in Pokrovsky Park in Shakhunya. The man was walking there with his family and a former colleague. His wife and children went ahead a bit, and then suddenly ran towards the water body. Alexey Volkov went after her and heard children's cries for help. It turned out that a five-year-old girl had fallen into the pond. Rushing to the water, he saw that an unfamiliar woman had already entered the water, trying to pull the child out. Without wasting a second, the captain of the internal service also jumped into the cold water and helped save the girl. Notably, Volkov himself did not elaborate on what happened and preferred to keep the incident a secret. The act was reported to the management of IK-12 by a former employee of the colony, Andrey Kudryavtsev, who was with him in the park. Earlier, it was reported that a new social support measure for employees of the regional Federal Penitentiary Service was approved in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
