A Nizhny Novgorod schoolboy won bronze at an international conference in India.

A high school student from Lyceum No. 87 named L.I. Novikova, Vladislav Dolgov, became a bronze medalist at the 32nd International Conference of Young Scientists (ICYS), which took place in New Delhi. The achievement of the student was reported by the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, on the MAX channel.

About 150 students from 17 countries participated in the conference. The students presented their research in English and defended it before an international jury.

Vladislav presented a study titled "Asymmetric Dicarboxylates of Triaryl Antimony as Promising Anti-Leishmanial Agents: Synthesis and Structure." The work is dedicated to creating a medicinal substance to combat leishmaniasis—a dangerous infection prevalent in Southeast Asian countries.

"I congratulate Vladislav and his mentors on this brilliant result! Such achievements are a source of pride for Nizhny Novgorod and an example for thousands of our students," noted Yuri Shalabaev.

The city’s Department of Education emphasized that ICYS is considered one of the key international platforms for presenting school scientific research. Unlike Olympiads, participants here present full-fledged research—from hypothesis to public defense. This requires not only deep knowledge but also the ability to analyze, argue, and speak freely in English.

Significant support came from scientific supervisors from Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky, as well as teachers from the lyceum.

Earlier, it was reported that the Minister of Education of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Puchkov, commented on students' complaints about inspections before the trial Unified State Exam (USE).
