A master class on neonatal surgery was held at the NODKB.

On May 12, a master class on neonatal surgery was held at the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital. It was attended by 18 specialists — pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists-resuscitators, and neonatologists from several medical institutions in the region. The training was conducted by a doctor of the highest qualification category, a pediatric surgeon from the surgical department of the perinatal center of the Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, and a member of the Russian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, Roman Ti. During the master class, participants observed surgeries to save two children with congenital esophageal pathologies. According to the NODKB, the event aimed to practice skills and exchange experiences in treating complex congenital anomalies, including congenital short esophagus and diaphragmatic hernia. Roman Ti presented modern methods of diagnosis and surgical treatment, as well as discussed typical difficulties that arise during such interventions. According to Valery Pazavin, the deputy chief physician for surgery at NODKB, the master class exemplified the implementation of the flagship regional project "Health Quarter," which allows specialists to gain experience from leading doctors and apply it in their work with patients. The regional health ministry reminded that the "Health Quarter" project is being implemented at the initiative of the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, with the support of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, and the Ministry of Health of Russia. The project includes the modernization of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital and the Research Institute — the Specialized Cardiac Surgery Clinical Hospital named after Academician B. A. Korolev, as well as the organization of a closed treatment and diagnostic cycle in a unified contour. As part of the master class, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries were performed on infants — one child was one month old, and the other was two months old. Both patients were diagnosed with diaphragmatic pathology, where part of the stomach enters the chest cavity, leading to nutritional disturbances and esophageal damage. Roman Ti also announced plans for further collaboration with Nizhny Novgorod colleagues and invited them to the Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University for experience exchange. It is worth noting that the national project "Sustained and Active Life" is being implemented on the instructions of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. It aims to update medical infrastructure, attract qualified personnel, introduce new approaches in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, develop a network of national research centers, and digitize the industry.
