A course on AI for civil servants has been developed in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
In the Nizhny Novgorod region, an advanced online course "Artificial Intelligence for Public Servants" has been developed. Employees of state and municipal agencies in the region must complete the training by June 1 of this year; thereafter, the program will become mandatory for new employees. The course was created by the Interdepartmental Commission on AI, approved by Governor Gleb Nikitin. Its goal is to establish professional standards in the field of artificial intelligence in accordance with the directives of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development and implementation of AI technologies. The program was prepared by the Ministry of Digital Development of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the ANO "Gorky Tech," and the Corporate University of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region (KUPNO). The course includes theoretical and practical materials on the application of AI for document analysis, working with tables and data, transcribing audio recordings, and preparing protocols and presentations. As reported by Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Yegor Polyakov, this is one of the first such online courses in the country. The region has also proposed to include a similar program in the national AI implementation plan at the federal level. The Minister of Digital Development and Communications of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Alexander Sinelobov, noted that special attention in the course is given to safe information handling, limitations on the use of AI, and result verification. The program contains ready-made prompts, final testing, and materials for skill reinforcement. The materials are hosted on the KUPNO SDO platform. Completing the course takes about two hours, and upon completion, participants receive a state-issued certificate. The rector of KUPNO, Ivan Kalmykov, emphasized that the course aims to enhance the efficiency of processes and the quality of state and municipal services. The development of artificial intelligence is part of the national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State," which is being implemented in Russia from January 1, 2025, at the directive of President Vladimir Putin.
