83 km of the federal highway R-177 in the Nizhny Novgorod region will be updated over two years.

      On May 13, 2026, at 08:23 Society On the R-177 "Povetluzhye" highway within the Nizhny Novgorod region, it is planned to repair more than 80 kilometers of pavement over the next two years. The work is being carried out on behalf of the Federal State Institution "Volga-Vyatka Road Administration," which is subordinate to Rosavtodor. The route from Nizhny Novgorod to Yoshkar-Ola runs through a popular tourist destination. The growing interest in domestic tourism has contributed to the development of areas and increased traffic load on the road. The length of the highway within the region is 133 kilometers. In 2020, it was granted federal status. From 2021 to 2024, five artificial structures and 40 kilometers of pavement were put in order on the section from Voskresenskoye to the border with the Mari El Republic. In the next two years, repairs will affect another 83 kilometers. The work will take place on the section from the 54th to the 119th kilometer—from Tarasikha to Bokovaya in the Semyonovsky district, as well as in the Voskresensky district—from the 119th to the 124th kilometer and from the 133rd to the 146th kilometer on the approach to the district center. Contractors will remove the old worn-out asphalt, strengthen and level the shoulders. Where the foundation is severely damaged, it will be restored using the cold regeneration method with the addition of skeletal material and a complex binder. Then, two layers of new pavement will be laid—a leveling layer and a top layer made of durable gravel-mastic asphalt concrete. At the same time, the road infrastructure will be updated: the landing sites and bus stops, sidewalks, connections to local roads will be put in order, and new thermoplastic markings will be applied. This season, the main volume of work will be concentrated on the section from the 94th to the 114th kilometer in the Semyonovsky district—from the turn to Bezvodnoye to Bokovaya. Repairs will be carried out in stages, in segments of one to three kilometers, to reduce inconvenience for drivers. During the work, the roadway will be narrowed in places, and if necessary, reversible traffic will be introduced. The maximum speed outside populated areas will be 50 km/h, and within their boundaries—40 km/h. Motorists are asked to consider temporary restrictions when planning routes, maintain attentiveness, and follow the established traffic scheme on the repaired sections.
