More than 40 children have been injured in traffic accidents on the roads of Nizhny Novgorod since the beginning of the year.

      On May 9, 2026, 14:35 Society Since the beginning of the year, 38 road traffic accidents involving children and teenagers have been registered in Nizhny Novgorod. As a result of these accidents, 42 children sustained injuries of varying severity, reported the State Traffic Inspectorate.

      Most of the injured—12 people—were residents of the Avtozavodsky district. Significant numbers were also recorded in the Nizhny Novgorod district (9 children) and the Prioksky district (7 children). In the Sormovsky and Leninsky districts, 5 children were injured each, while in the Soviet and Moscow districts, there were 2 accidents involving minors. No cases of traffic accidents with children were recorded in the Kanavinsky district.

      Among the causes of injuries are the children's own carelessness, as they crossed the road in unauthorized places, ignoring pedestrian crossings. This underscores the importance of constant adult supervision of children's behavior on the roads.

      In connection with the upcoming summer school holidays, when children will spend more time outdoors, the State Traffic Inspectorate of Nizhny Novgorod urges parents to increase their supervision of their children. Special attention is recommended to be given to teaching children traffic rules and ensuring safety measures when crossing the road.
