The updated equipment of the Nagornaya heat power plant has passed the heating season inspection.

      May 8, 2026 12:43 Society The reconstructed boilers No. 7 and No. 8 under the federal program at the largest boiler house in Nizhny Novgorod - Nagornaya Heat Power Plant - have completed the heating season. The modernization of the equipment at the NTP was carried out from 2023 to 2025 without stopping the production cycle under the federal program with the involvement of a preferential loan funded by the National Wealth Fund. The NTP provides heating for the Nizhny Novgorod and Soviet districts of Nizhny Novgorod - this includes 1,354 apartment buildings, 111 schools, kindergartens, medical institutions, and 1,278 other consumers. The operator of the municipal infrastructure modernization program with the involvement of preferential loans funded by the NWF is the Territorial Development Fund. As part of the reconstruction, two boiler units were completely replaced at the boiler house, increasing their total capacity to 279 MW. The new automated boilers of domestic production are more reliable and energy-efficient. In total, there are eight boiler units at the heat power plant. The first boiler to be reconstructed under the program was boiler No. 8. For this, it was completely dismantled, a new foundation was poured, and a new boiler unit was delivered and installed at the site. Due to the significant dimensions of the boilers (in height, they are comparable to a five-story building), part of the walls of the machine room was dismantled to carry out the work. After the installation and commissioning of boiler No. 8, similar work was carried out on boiler No. 7. At the same time, auxiliary equipment was replaced, facade work was conducted, and landscaping was performed. Also, with the company's funds, major repairs were carried out on boiler No. 2 in 2025. As reported by the Territorial Development Fund, the reconstruction of the Nizhny Novgorod boiler house on Vetsinarnaya Street improved the quality of municipal services for 250,000 people. "Reducing the wear of urban infrastructure, increasing energy efficiency, and creating a reserve of thermal capacity are the main tasks for updating the housing and utilities sector. In Nizhny Novgorod, the thermal capacities of the Nagornaya Heat Power Plant were reconstructed. Two new boilers with a capacity of 279 MW were installed at the boiler house, bringing the total capacity of the facility after reconstruction to 814.1 MW. This not only increased the reliability of heating supply but also directly affected the quality of life for a quarter of a million city residents," said Vasily Kupyzin, General Director of the Territorial Development Fund. Earlier under this program, more than 105 km of engineering networks were reconstructed in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 18 boiler houses were put into operation, and five sewage pumping stations were built. Of these, more than 65 km and four boiler houses (NTP, boiler houses on Uglova St. 7, Stanislavsky St. 3, Kazan Highway 12a) were reconstructed in the area of responsibility of the Joint Municipal Operator JSC.
