The head of the Nizhny Novgorod Hockey Federation supported the name of the Ice Palace.

      The head of the FHN Vladislav Erofeev shared his opinion regarding the choice of the name "Volga Arena" for the Ice Palace at Strelka.

      "This week, a decision was made to name the new Ice Arena 'Volga'. And this caused a great resonance - various opinions appeared on the Internet. I want to share mine. I remember about 12 years ago I attended one of the sports events, which was attended by the top officials of the region at that time. Everyone was puzzled by the choice of name for the football stadium. I will never forget how I was given the floor, and I suggested my option - 'Volga-Arena'! By the way, this suggestion was met with applause.

      Both then and now, I am convinced that Volga is indeed our name that unites fans. And in the case of the hockey arena, it also has a functional significance. It not only adds weight and recognition to the capital of the Volga region but also promotes the revived automobile brand 'Volga'.

      And how else can an arena in the most beautiful place on the Volga River be called? Perhaps this is one of those cases where, despite the abundance of choices, there is simply no other alternative. Only 'Volga'!

      Well, as for the fact that the brand is in Latin letters - to me, that is not essential at all. The main thing is that it sounds like ours and fits perfectly into the region.

      Moreover, the arena will receive additional funding for development because of this - perfect," Erofeev noted.
